A Conversation with Dr. Chathuni Kaushalya

🌱 What inspired you to pursue Ayurveda as a career?

My journey began at the University of Colombo, where I completed my Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS). Ayurveda resonated deeply with me because it views health as a balance of body, mind, and lifestyle.

To further strengthen my perspective, I pursued a Master’s degree in Public Health at the University of Sunderland, allowing me to integrate traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern healthcare principles.

🧘 Which treatments do you specialise in?

My primary area of expertise is Panchakarma, a classical Ayurvedic detoxification and rejuvenation therapy designed to remove deep-seated toxins and restore balance.

I also provide therapies such as Abhyanga, Shirodhara, and Pinda Sweda, all carefully customised to support each individual’s unique constitution and needs.

💚 How do you approach patient care?

I follow a holistic and patient-centred approach. Every individual is different, so I take time to understand lifestyle habits, emotional wellbeing, diet, and health concerns.

My goal is to provide personalised and practical guidance that aligns with Ayurvedic principles and fits into modern daily life.

📚 Are you involved in Ayurvedic education?

Yes, I am actively involved with the Ayurveda Institute UK, where I teach and mentor students in Ayurvedic massage and therapeutic practices.

Teaching allows me to share knowledge and support the next generation of Ayurvedic practitioners.

✨ What motivates you most in your practice?

What inspires me most is witnessing meaningful change in people’s lives. Ayurveda has the power not only to heal illness but also to prevent it and support long-term wellbeing.

“Compassion, patience, and care guide everything I do in my healing practice.”
